I will also explore the film industries of America and India to compare them.

Most people know that making movies costs a lot of money. Some of the most expensive ones are listed below:
· Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
· Spiderman 3
· John Carter
Some of these films have hit the $300million mark.
So, who makes the most movies?
Officially, India is the largest producer of film in the world. The Indian public are very keen on visiting cinemas to see films. The largest film industry in India is in Mumbai (or Bombay) and this is commonly referred to as ‘Bollywood’.
When people think movies, most tend to think of Hollywood too. The two are synonymous. Hollywood has a big effect on film production across the world. Every year since 1920, Hollywood has had a higher income than any other film industry.
But how does that influence me and my marketing package for my new film? Well, when the American film companies decided to sell their product abroad, instead of securing the rights, they sold their productions to UK companies (based in London) and then these companies distributed them, making a huge profit. In 1911 60-70% of films imported to the UK were American.
If there is a large amount of American movies coming into the UK then this is sure to have a negative effect on the UK film industry.
