Questionnaire 1 (research) Analysis

I handed this questionnaire to 26 pupils
The split was:
Boys 15
Girls 11

Question 1.
Why do you buy a film?
Most mentioned the word ‘enjoyment’ in this answer. All worded differently but getting at the fact that they buy the film to sit down and become involved in, meeting the characters and learning the story. Some mentioned that they enjoy films with their favourite actors/actresses and crew.

Question 2.
Do you prefer film adverts that are a) longer or b) shorter

For the males that answered, I found that there was a particularly even split. The females though were considerably in favour of shorter adverts, as shown in the chart below.

Question 3.
Do you prefer trailers that give more clues to the film’s plot, or ones that give more subtle clues?

This question was particularly conclusive in showing that generally, both males and females prefer little information about the plot of the film, meaning that they can enjoy the film as it happens, without knowing what happens. Most commenting about this said that ‘there isn’t much point watching a film when you know what happens’.
